Emergency crews responded to the intersection of Central and Colvin avenues for a truck vs. pedestrian crash at around 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 13., according to Albany Police.

Officers located a 63-year-old woman lying in the roadway with serious injuries. She was taken to Albany Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead, police said.

A preliminary investigation found that the woman was attempting to walk south across Central Avenue when she was struck by a dump truck traveling westbound, according to police.

“While the contributing factors are still being investigated, it has been determined that speed was not a factor,” the agency said in a statement.

Officers located the driver and they are cooperating with the investigation, police said.

Authorities were withholding the victim's identity pending family notification. Check back to Daily Voice for updates.
